Rigid12 1/2" thickness planer

A planer will plane wood down to a specific thickness.

Safety

  • Safety glasses are always required.
  • Hearing protection and dust masks are highly recommended.

Special Instructions

  • Only use the planer with clean, new wood free of foreign objects (like nails). Pallet wood and barn wood should not be used in the planer.
  • Make sure that the opposite face of the board is flat. This can be done on the joiner.
  • Adjust the height to a little bit less than the current thickness. You should never remove more than about 1/16“ during one pass.
  • Turn the planer on.
  • Feed the piece through.
  • Adjust the height again and repeat.
